Welcome back to bowls!
We are looking forward to welcoming you all back to River Bowling Club, with our Green opening from 24th April 2021.
Government lockdown restrictions are gradually easing, with the country moving to 'Step Four' of the four-step roadmap from 19th July. However, the Management Committee will still need to have some measures in place for us to keep playing bowls safely. We are basing all decisions on guidance provided by Bowls England, which we have adapted to suit the needs of River Bowling Club. As we move through each new step of the Government's roadmap, we will review our guidance accordingly. Please see our Members Pages for more information about these measures.
Our fixtures are available to view on our Fixtures 2021 page. Please note that due to the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic, matches may be subject to change due to the regulations that may be in force at that time.
We want to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support during these challenging times.

Remember - 'Hands, Face, Space. And let fresh air in'.
Every action counts in the fight against COVID-19:
- Hands – wash your hands regularly and for 20 seconds
- Face – wear a face covering in indoor settings where social distancing may be difficult, and where you will come into contact with people you do not normally meet
- Space – stay 2 metres apart from people you do not live with where possible, or 1 metre with extra precautions in place (such as wearing face coverings or increasing ventilation indoors)
- Fresh Air - letting fresh air into indoor spaces can reduce the risk of infection from coronavirus by over 70%. Read more on the importance of ventilation to reduce spread of COVID-19.

The object of the Club is to provide facilities for, and promote participation of, the whole community in the sport of bowls.
River Bowling Club was founded in 1923 and is affiliated to Bowls England & Kent County Bowling Association (KCBA).
We are a small mixed club playing both competitive and friendly games, with membership ranging from teenagers to great-grandparents. Our Green is located in the recreation ground at the heart of the village and we enjoy excellent facilities in our Clubhouse, which was rebuilt in 1996 following a fire. The Club is run by a voluntary management committee and we have recently taken over responsibility for the Clubhouse and the Green from the Parish Council.
The outdoor season starts in April and runs through to September each year. During the winter months the Club has a “short mat”, which allows play to continue in the Clubhouse. We also have an active social membership that holds regular events during the year.
